You and your SIM-card

The Nawras SIM (Subscriber Identity Module) card is a small chip that fits into your mobile handset. It gives you access to our exciting range of services.

The SIM-card stores unique information about your account, including a phone book with room for up to 250 personal contacts. It also enables the automatic download of content exclusive to you.

Five SIMple steps to start up:

  1. Make sure your mobile handset's battery is charged.

  2. Remove your Nawras SIM-card from the SIM-card holder and insert the SIM-card in your mobile handset's SIM-card slot.

  3. Replace the battery and switch on your mobile handset.

  4. Enter your 4 digit PIN code, printed on the SIM-card holder.

  5. The mobile handset connects to the network and Nawras appears on the screen.

You are now ready to receive the settings needed to begin using the Nawras services - you do not need to worry about anything - just accept the received messages and your mobile handset will be configured. Welcome to the Nawras mobile experience.

All about your SIM-card - Your questions answered

  1. Can I change my PIN code?
    Yes, you can change or disable your PIN code. For instructions please refer to your mobile handset user guide.
     

  2. What if I enter the wrong PIN?
    Should you, or any other person, enter the wrong PIN code three times, the handset will ask for an unblocking code, known as Pin Unlock Key (PUK).
    The PUK is a unique 8 digit code that is printed on the SIM-card holder. Should you incorrectly insert your PUK ten times, the SIM-card will be permanently blocked and you will need to buy a new SIM-card.
     

  3. Can I save personal phone numbers on my SIM-card?
    Yes. Your Nawras SIM-card can be used as a phone book for the storage of personal telephone numbers. You can retrieve the numbers regardless of the mobile handset your SIM-card is inserted into. Up to 250 numbers can be saved on your SIM-card, including a maximum of 20 digits for numbers and 20 characters for names.
     

  4. Can I store SMS messages on my SIM-card?
    Yes. A maximum of 35 messages can be stored on your SIM-card. We recommend that from time to time you clear your SMS directory in order to ensure that you can continue to receive new messages.
     

  5. How can I change my phone number?
    You can change your current phone number while maintaining the same price plan. You can select an easy to remember number or choose your personal number. To change your number, please visit your nearest Nawras Store. To locate one nearest to you, click here.
     

  6. What do I do if my SIM-card is lost or stolen?
    Inform Nawras Customer Service on 1500 or +968 9501 1500 that your SIM-card was lost or stolen. Nawras Customer Service will immediately block the SIM-card to prevent further misuse. To replace SIM-cards go to your nearest Nawras Store. To locate one nearest to you, click here.
     

  7. What do I do with a defective SIM-card?
