Picture Messaging is also known as Multi Media Messaging or MMS. It is an advanced messaging service that allows you to compose, send and receive messages using all forms of media, including text, pictures, audio and even video clips. Picture Messaging capabilities depend on your mobile handset. For details of your mobile handset capabilities, please refer to your mobile handset user guide.

Colour pictures taken with built-in handset cameras can be combined with text, audio and video files and sent to other Nawras customers or to customers of other mobile operators.

How to Use
When you start using your Nawras SIM-card, you can by default, send Picture Messages if your mobile handset has the correct configuration for Picture Messaging.

Sending a picture message
Compose the picture message on your mobile handset. E.g. take a picture with the built-in camera on your mobile handset.
Then include or attach the file you would like to send.
You can send several types of files, including images, sounds or video clips.
Then send the file to another mobile.

Receiving a picture message
You can receive Picture Messages from another mobile in the same manner you receive other messages. These messages may contain images, sounds, or video clips. For more details on the specifics of Picture Messaging for your mobile handset, please check the user guide of your mobile handset.

You have several ways to get your mobile handset configured for Picture Messaging:
First time you power your mobile handset with your new Nawras SIM-card you will be invited to start receiving the configuration SMS needed to configure your mobile handset for Data Services (Picture Messaging, Mobile Data Access for browsing the Internet and for WAP browsing including configuration of Nawras Zone as your WAP-start page).

If you did not configure your mobile handset the first time you accessed Nawras network via your Nawras SIM-card, or if you lost a configuration by accident, or if any thing went wrong during first configuration attempt you can always repeat the configuration process. You have several options to reconfigure:

1. Send free of charge SMS with keyword “all” to 1501. You will then receive 3 configuration messages, which you need to accept so that you can start using any of the mobile data services.
   

2. Initiate the configuration via MyNawras.
   

3. Call Nawras Customer Service at 1500 and request them to send the configuration settings to your mobile handset.

Picture Messaging settings are the required Nawras handset configurations that will allow you to use the Picture Messaging service. These can be received onto your handset in several ways:

1. By typing "MMS" in a text message and sending it to 1501.
   

2. By pushing the settings to your handset from the MyNawras self-care section of the Nawras website.
   

3. By manually entering the configuration in your handset.

Roaming:
You will not be able to receive picture messages when roaming in another country.
Visitors in the Nawras network will not be able to receive picture messages.

Service Specific Information

1. You can exchange (send and receive) picture messages with other Nawras customers as well as with Oman Mobile customers.
   

2. Some mobile handsets do not support messages containing video, big pictures, voice messages and text. For more details, please check the user guide of your mobile handset.
   

3. Some mobile handsets cannot be configured via SMS. Then you can manually configure your mobile handset by following the user guide of your mobile handset. You will need the following information:
   • APN: mms.nawras.com.om
   • User Name: (not needed)
   • Password: (not needed)
   • MMS Server: http://10.128.240.16/servlets/mms

4. Every time you change your mobile handset you need to repeat the configuration. Nawras network will automatically detect if you change your mobile handset and invite you to configure your new mobile handset again.
   

5. Even if you have a mobile handset that does not support Picture Messaging or you do not have the correct configurations in your mobile handset, you will still be able to receive picture messages. You will then receive a notification  SMS with a web link (URL) and a password inviting you to the Nawras website to view your picture message. You can respond by SMS to the SMS notification you have received. This SMS will go directly to the original sender of the picture message.
