Nawras true success at Khareef 2006

Nawras, the Omani Qatari Telecommunications Company, the Sultanate’s customer-friendly telecommunications provider, is proud to support events and activities that benefit the Omani community, working in tandem with the Government and Private Sector to raise Oman’s profile internationally. From the 15th July to 31st August 2006, Nawras proudly sponsored both venues at the Khareef in Salalah: Khareef Festival organised by Dhofar Municipality and Global Village’s Khareef event organised by Al-Shanfari Group. Nawras senior management participated in the inaugural ceremony on the 15th July and the opening ceremony of the Global Village the following day.

“We were very pleased with our decision to showcase Nawras at both locations this year,” summarised Haitham bin Abdullah Al-Kharusi, Nawras Head of Offer Management and Corporate Affairs. “Nawras supported the Khareef Festival for the first time in 2005 and found that visitors were very interested to enter the stand and experience the customer-friendly service that they had heard about. This year, participating in two locations gave visitors the chance to select the most convenient location for them and in turn, this tied in with our constant aim to provide a service that exceeds the customers’ expectations. We were very happy to welcome over 200,000 visitors to the two Nawras stands”

Nawras ran entertainment activities for families and competitions for local and international visitors. In addition, the Nawras sponsored Internet Café which operated at Dhofar Municipality grounds attracted a lot of interest from visitors wanting to experience Nawras Internet for free. The quality of the wireless high speed internet access impressed many and the fact that they could be up and running in only minutes, with no waiting lists, was a major plus.

Many new customers joined Nawras during the festival and have been enjoying the benefits ever since. For most, the fact that they would be saving on their monthly phone bills was a major incentive to choose Nawras and many felt that the transparent price plans were particularly helpful when it came to budgeting expenditure.

Customers that purchased any Nawras Musbak or Nawras Ajel product during the festival were entered in the popular Golden Number Draw, a daily draw for a Golden mobile phone number. The draw took place everyday with customers able to receive up to three vouchers for the draw, dependent upon the type of welcome pack purchased. A total of 48 delighted winners were contacted on their newly purchased mobile number.

Following on from the success of the past two years, Nawras will be certain to make an even bigger impression at the 2007 Khareef Festival. Plans are already underway to create more exciting and attractive reasons for festival visitors to visit the Nawras stands.
