Nawras expand its “SMS to TV” service

Nawras, the Omani Qatari Telecommunications Company, the Sultanate's customer-friendly telecommunications provider, expands the coverage of its “SMS to TV” service from 21 channels at the launch to more than 40 channels. The service now covers most of the popular TV channels watched by the people in Oman.

With “SMS to TV”, another innovative service from Nawras, customers no longer play the passive role and just sit in front of the TV screen. They are empowered by Nawras to actively influence the contents of their favorite TV show by sharing their thoughts with other viewers.

Nawras customers can take part in interactive activities such as voting, chatting and participating in contests via SMS while watching TV. Nawras customers can also share their messages with other viewers by sending their SMS to the short code assigned to their favorite TV channel.

Commenting on the expansion of this service to cover more channels, Raed Dawod, Nawras Messaging Product Manager, commented, “We are extremely pleased to be able to offer “SMS to TV” to all our valued customers, whether they are Nawras Mousbak (prepaid) or Nawras Ajel customers (postpaid). Since the launch of this service on November 2005, the number of TV channels included in this service has increased dramatically to cover more than 40 channels, and we are planning to add 20 more in the coming months. We will continue our efforts to enhance customer experience, by delivering exciting offers and services, in order to meet the needs of our current and future customers. ”
