Nawras Appoints New Business Development Director

Nawras, the Omani Qatari Mobile Telecommunications Company, the Sultanate’s customer-friendly communications provider, has appointed a new business development director.

Eyhab Al Hajj, department head of Strategy and Planning, has been promoted and will from August 2006 take over the role of Director of Business Development. This happens as Anders Blauenfeldt, the current Director, is returning to a new position in European telecommunication provider TDC, after having participated in building the Nawras success story.

"It has been a couple of tremendously exciting years setting up a mobile operator here in Oman, from the early days in summer 2004 when the whole company could be in one meeting room, to now having more than 400,000 customers and having established a strong player in the Omani telecommunications market. Nawras have exciting opportunities in the years to come in supporting the growth of Oman as a nation. A lot has happened so far - and it makes me very proud to have been a part of this", Anders Blauenfeldt commented. "This promotion is a major achievement for Eyhab Al Hajj and I am happy that he has decided to accept the challenge. I am pleased to leave the responsibility of Business Development in the capable hands of Eyhab", Anders Blauenfeldt continued.

Eyhab Al Hajj joined Nawras as head of Strategy and Planning in January 2005 after a history of more than 10 years in the Oil industry. From the outset Eyhab Al Hajj has taken part in preparing the launch and setting the foundation for future growth of Nawras in Oman. "I thank Anders and the rest of Nawras management for the steep learning curve I have experienced over the last 18 months. It is amazing what I have been exposed to working with Nawras", said Eyhab Al Hajj.

Chief Executive Officer of Nawras, Ross Cormack commented: "Eyhab is a strong example of a talented Omani employee taking over a senior management position at Nawras.
