Nawras announces Ramadan Goodwill Journey

Nawras, the Sultanate’s customer-oriented communications provider, organised a press conference at their main office yesterday to announce the start of the first of its kind Ramadan Goodwill Journey in the Sultanate.

The press conference was under patronage of H.E. Ahmed bin Rashid Al-Ma'amari, Undersecretary at the Ministry of Social Development, and attended by Nawras Board members, senior management and representatives from different national Charity organisations.

The objective of the Nawras Goodwill Journey, which will take the form of a convoy of Nawras branded cars with Nawras employees, is to raise awareness about the different Charity organisations across the Sultanate and their noble cause in the society. The Nawras employees will provide Charity Organisations with suitable donations, and will also visit and spend time with those less fortune in our society, to better understand their needs and the function of the entities supporting them.

H.E. Ahmed bin Rashid Al-Maamari, chief guest commented on the occasion, “We wish Nawras success in their noble cause in this holy month of Ramadan and we hope that other company’s fall in their footsteps.”

Speaking on the occasion Sheikh Abdullah Al-Rawahi, Nawras Chief Technical Advisor, commented, “the Nawras employees are the main drivers behind this Goodwill Journey. They really wanted to reach out to those less fortunate in our society and show that they care, by spending time during the Holy Month of Ramadan, travelling all over the Sultanate distributing donations, which will support the Charity organisations and their beneficiaries in a sustainable manner. We as Nawras management fully support this noble endeavour, and we wish the employees success on their Goodwill Journey.”

The presentation at the press conference was delivered by Nawras employees, who described the Nawras Goodwill Journey concept and introduced the convoy team members. Furthermore, each of the Charity Organisations were given the opportunity to make a short presentation of its mission and activities.

Khalid Al-Minji, who works in the Procurement department at Nawras and being a member of the convoy added, “the Nawras employees have worked very hard in order to ensure that we are able to start the Nawras Goodwill Journey today. During the Holy Month of Ramadan it feels good to give back to the society and help those less fortunate than us, by donating to charities and spending quality time with kids and adults at various centres all over the Sultanate. We thank the Nawras management for providing us with moral and financial support to carry out our Goodwill Journey.”

The Nawras Goodwill Journey will be supported by all six local newspapers and Oman TV, with daily coverage in both press and television. In addition, two reporters, Mr. Khalfan Al-Rahbi and Mr. Aziz Al-Rahbi who will travel on the convoy to provide comprehensive daily media coverage, and a documentary from the Goodwill Journey.

24 Nawras employees, split into two groups, from various departments within the company will travel in six Nawras branded 4WD cars throughout the Sultanate. Initially, the convoy will travel to the Wilyat of Khasab in the Governorate of Musandum where it will visit the Al Wafa Centre. Thereafter it will visit all the regions of the Sultanate, before it return to Muscat on the 1st of November. At each location visited, members of different Charitable organisations, Wali, Members of Majlis Shura and Dawla as well as DG of Social Development in the region will receive the Nawras Goodwill Journey.

The Nawras Goodwill Journey aims at raising awareness of the different Charity organisations all over the Sultanate, thereby enhancing their ability to carry out their noble cause and improve the standard of living for the less fortunate in our society, by solving their basic needs. Al-Minji concluded, “We hope our effort will raise the level of corporate social responsibility throughout the Sultanate, and we ask other Omani companies to join us in sharing the goodwill and give from their hearts.”
