1st VIP call reception on Nawras Network
Nawras to launch very soon

Oman’s new mobile service provider, Nawras held its 1st VIP call to test the network in a high-level mobile call conversation between H.E. Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdullah Al-Harthy Minister of Transport and Telecommunication, Sheikh Saif bin Hashil Al-Maskery Nawras Chairman and Sheikh Abdullah Al-Thani, Chairman of the Amir of Diwan of Qatar and Qtel.

The first conversation took place at the Minister’s office at the Ministry of Transport and Telecommunication. Using Nawras mobile Sheikh Saif called His Excellency Sheikh Mohammed Al-Harthy on his Nawras mobile. Sheikh Saif thanked the Minister for being part of this historic event and for all the support and co-operation Nawras has received from the Minister.

Commenting on the occasion His Excellency the Minister remarked that he was extremely pleased on the quality of call on the Nawras network and wished the company success for their imminent launch. In addition he added his commitment and support to ensuring the successful launch of Nawras.

The second conversation was between Shk. Saif and Sheikh Abdullah Al-Thani from Qatar roaming on his Nawras mobile. The two parties discussed the importance of this momentous day and Sheikh Saif thanked the Chairman of Qtel for their support and being part of this event. Sheikh Abdullah Al-Thani added that the conference call from Doha with the Minister and Chairman of Nawras, was also of extremely high quality reinforcing the robustness of the Nawras network and quality of services offered by the company. We in Qtel are proud to be part of this venture that will bring to the people of Oman the latest mobile communications.

Sheikh Saif added that Nawras is now ready and will soon launch its service to the people of Oman. The 1st call reception has many implications for us at Nawras. Our robust state-of-the-art network is ready to provide high quality of calls. It reinforces that we are providing easy-to-use technology to serve our customers better, including international and roaming services. Nawras’s CEO Ross Cormack, who witnessed the event remarked “This was an extremely emotional moment for us at Nawras. Months of hard work and dedication by all those involved from vendors and partner government authorities, our shareholders, TRA, Omantel, and most importantly our employees; have resulted in a call that brought their three important people from Oman and Qatar closer together.” He concluded, “We shall be ready to launch our services to the people of Oman very shortly.”
