Enjoy Nawras services also when travelling abroad

Nawras, Oman’s newest mobile operator, announced that its customers can get closer to their family and friends in the Sultanate even during holidays or business trips abroad.

Speaking on the announcement Tore Solberg, Nawras’ Marketing Director, said, “We have listened to our customers and in order to meet their needs, we have put highest priority on signing international roaming agreements with mobile operators worldwide. We have successfully established agreements with 30 operators in 25 countries in less than four months of operation. This is a huge achievement, taking into consideration that our competition in Oman spent 6 times as long to achieve the same! With our current speed of implementation, we expect to provide over 100 roaming destinations for our customers by the end of 2005.“

Nawras has conducted market research in order to identify international tourist destinations for Omani families during their summer holidays, as well as inbound and outbound business relations with Oman. The majority of the destinations were within the GCC, Europe and the Far-East, which made Nawras focus on these countries first with respect to providing international roaming for its valued customers.

Solberg added, “We wanted to offer our customers international roaming services in those countries, which they frequently visit for business or pleasure. Today we already cover 90% of Omani travel destinations, such as UAE, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Qatar, Bahrain, Yemen, Jordan, Syria, Lebanon, Turkey, India, Pakistan, Singapore, Thailand, Tunisia, South Africa, Spain, Italy, and many more, and the list keeps expanding on a weekly basis. Therefore, no matter where our customers travel, Oman is just a call away - with Nawras.“

Khamis bin Juma Al-Zadjali, a Nawras Ajel (Postpaid) customer, commented on the announcement of international roaming service as follows, “Every summer I take my family to Thailand for a short holiday, and being a recent Nawras customer, I was looking forward to their announcement of covering Thailand with international roaming services. This allows me to keep in touch with my colleagues back in the office, as well as enjoying time with my family in another continent!.”

Nawras offers roaming services for both Nawras Ajel (Postpiad), Nawras MousbakPlus and Nawras Mousbak (Prepaid). With Nawras Ajel, customers can make and receive calls, as well as send and receive SMS messages as if they were in Oman. With Nawras Mousbak and Nawras MousbakPlus, customers can receive calls and SMS as if they were at home. Outgoing calls are made through Callback Roaming, in which all calls need to be prefixed by *121*, except for a few countries (e.g. UAE), where customers can dial like they would in Oman. Sending SMS when abroad is currently not available for Nawras Prepaid customers, however Nawras is looking at providing this service for customers in the near future.
