Nawras launches Data Roaming in the UAE
Another Nawras First

Nawras, the Sultanate's customer-oriented communications provider, has added another ‘first’ to its many achievements by providing its customers the possibility of accessing data content and services while roaming in the UAE. Commenting on this landmark achievement Adil Al-Burashdi, Nawras Segment and Offer Manager, said, “We are very excited to announce that we once again deliver what our customers have told us they want. In addition to voice and SMS, they have clearly stated that they also want access to data and data-based services while roaming. We are proud to announce that Nawras customers are the first in Oman to benefit from this possibility.”

Through the data roaming agreement with Etisalat, Nawras Ajel postpaid customers can send/receive e-mails, download files or simply browse the Internet from their mobile phone, PDA or a PC with a Nawras data card, also while roaming in the UAE. In addition, they can also send and receive Picture Messages or access the Nawras mobile portal, Nawras Zone, to read news or download other type of content.

Nawras is the clear leader of providing mobile data services in Oman, and is the only mobile operator which provides Mobile Broadband through its EDGE-based state-of-the-art network. Al-Burashdi commented, “Through Nawras’ Mobile Broadband network, Nawras customers can enjoy access to data content and data-based services at a speed 3 times faster than traditional mobile data services (GPRS) operated by our competition in Oman.”

In addition, Nawras recently announced a joint venture with Microsoft and i-Mate to launch Mobile Office services in Oman. This will allow Nawras customers to use a PDA to synchronise remotely with their office environment, in order to send and receive emails as well as stay up to date with their Microsoft Outlook Contacts and Calendar. Combined with the unbeatable Data Module offer, in which Nawras Ajel customers can download data for a monthly subscription as low as 3 R.O. per month and unlimited amount of data for a maximum amount of 39 R.O per month, Nawras provides by far the best value for data users in Oman.
