Nawras Board of Directors holds first meeting

The board of directors of Nawras held their first post-incorporation meeting chaired by H.E Sheikh Saif bin Hashil Al-Maskari, Board Chairman, in the presence of other members of the board from Q-Tel and TDC as well as local prominent partners.

The meeting reviewed numerous issues notably the company’s on-going successful preparations to launch its mobile telecom services early next year. In addition the meeting discussed the procedures for incorporating the company in the Sultanate, the excellent efforts exerted in the last period to recruit Omani nationals, and building the company’s facilities in various part of the Sultanate. The meeting further discussed the marketing policy in the forthcoming stage, the company’s role in developing the telecom sector, introducing new technologies and absorbing more Omanis in different areas.

Ali Sherif Al-Emadi, member of the board said the meeting covered number of important issues particularly the establishment and marketing plan of the company. He added that the meeting further looked at the Omanisation plan highlighting that the about 160 Omani employees in various departments and sections of the company have been recruited so far out of the company’s current total labor strength of 230 employees.

“The company aims to provide quality services to all its customers and will leave no stone
unturned in introducing innovative services and new technologies to further enhance the telecom sector in the Sultanate”, Al-Emadi added.

In his part, Sheikh Fahd bin Jassim Al-Thani, member of the board, confirmed that the meeting reviewed the action plan for the coming stage noting that numerous improvements over the current services available in Oman will be revealed to the future customers along with the launch of the company’ services early next year.

The members of the board of directors include; H.E Sheikh Saif bin Hashil Al-Maskari as
Chairman, Abdullah bin Zaid Al-Talib representing the MENA Investment Company and Vice-Chairman of Nawras, Ali Sherif Al-Emadi, Dr. Nasser bin Mohammed Marafih, Khalil bin Ibrahim Al-Emadi, Sheikh Fahad Jassim Al-Thani, Henning Vest, as Independent members and Abdullah bin Humaid Al- Maamari and Saleh bin Nasser Al-Riyami, representing Omani local pension funds. The meeting was also attended by Nawras’s Chief Executive Ross Cormack, and other senior managers.
