Nawras Telecom Probes Omani Market

Nawras Telecom, Oman’s new mobile service provider, has been undertaking a comprehensive research program to prepare the commercial launch scheduled for early part of 2005. Through conducting extensive quantitative and qualitative research, with thousands of future customers, Nawras Telecom aims at gaining a thorough understanding of the Omani telecommunication market.

“Understanding the customers' needs is crucial for a new company-like Nawras operating in the exciting and dynamic environment of mobile communications,” said Mikkel Vinter, Chief Commercial Officer at Nawras. Vinter added that the company was very satisfied with the researches' findings as they confirmed the initial Sultanate market's readiness for the arrival of a new mobile operator.

The researches' main objective was to study customer and business segmentation, branding, pricing, customer spending and calling habits, as well as communication products and services. The resulting data is being used to tailor Nawras' tariffs and services to meet the different needs of the various customer segments in Oman.

Business Development Director Anders Blauenfeldt, responsible for market intelligence and research at Nawras, emphasised the company’s commitment to an ongoing research programme. “At Nawras we believe in being customer focused and we will certainly have post-launch extensive market research programme.
