Nawras Customer Champions Win Competition With Great Teamwork

Nawras recently organised its first bowling tournament between employees, with the competitive event generating lots of exciting competition and culminating in a close finish. Over a period of two weeks, more than 50 employees battled it out at the Al Masa Mall, showing the strong team spirit they usually exhibit when caring for Nawras customers. Teams were encouraged by groups of their colleagues who came along to support the representatives of their respective departments.

The tension in the air could be felt as the tournament drew to an enthralling end but despite the close finish, Nawras Customer Champions took both first and second place honours with the marketing team coming in third. Suleiman Al Mugheiry (department head, customer service) achieved the highest score of the tournament in one game, and Yasser Al-Zadjali (Nawras Store, Al Seeb) notched up the competition’s highest score over three games.

Following the successful conclusion of the competition, Anwar Salim Al-Habsi, Nawras Events & Sponsorship Specialist, commented: "This is the first Nawras bowling competition but certainly not the last. The main reason behind the organisation of this event was to provide entertainment for Nawras staff; we consider it another opportunity for staff to get closer. It is relaxing and enjoyable for employees to partake in sporting and social events and we chose bowling because it caters for people who don’t regularly play a lot of sport and is equally suitable for all, whether young or old, male or female. The high level of participation and support made this event particularly successful. A lot of Nawras employees tried bowling for the fist time in this competition; they have now decided to continue playing because they like it.”

The bowling competition was open to every department of this award-winning company with the 10 participating teams coming from IT, Nawras Stores, Finance, Sales and Marketing as well as the winning Champions from Customer Service.

Following the excitement of the final balls being bowled, trophies and prizes were presented to the delighted winners by Said Ahmed Safrar, Nawras Customer Service Director; with Michael Fitzpatrick, Marketing Director and Hussein Al-Fadhil, Corporate Affairs Team Leader, also present to add their congratulations. Many employees were on hand for the occasion, cheering on their colleagues and applauding the winners.
