Nawras Goodwill Journey preparations well underway

Nawras, the Middle East Mobile Operator of the Year, is reporting great progress on all the varied and detailed preparations needed for the Goodwill Journey 3, scheduled to leave Muscat this week. The logistical planning that is required for this mission is quite an undertaking and detailed plans have been worked on for months, leading up to the final arrangements which are currently being put into place.

To ensure that each Goodwill Journey achieves its purpose, Nawras communicates in advance with the charitable associations to be visited, ascertaining the specific requirements of each individual organisation. A master ‘shopping list’ is drawn up and the procurement team begin sourcing the thousands of items needed.

The next obstacle to consider is where to store all the donations once purchased until they are required to be delivered. A huge warehouse has been commandeered for the purpose and has rapidly filled as the procurement team work with many different suppliers, purchasing the myriad of items needed. Most also need to be wrapped – particularly those gifts that are chosen for children. Watching their faces as the decorative coverings are ripped off to reveal the treasures inside is always an unforgettable and emotional experience for the Nawras Goodwill Journey team of volunteers.

Nasib Al Qarni, Nawras Procurement Specialist, spoke about the planning side of the Goodwill Journey, explaining, “Our work actually began many months ago when we contacted the various representatives of the charities we were hoping to visit during the Nawras Goodwill Journey 3. We discussed how best to support the great work being carried out at each location and asked how we could contribute to improve the daily lives of those attending the centres. Nawras sees this journey as a very important part of its social corporate responsibility and as an opportunity to show just how Nawras cares about the less fortunate in society, at the same time encouraging other companies and individuals to play their parts too.”

Each of the branded vehicles that will be used as part of the convoy travelling thousands of kilometres around the Sultanate requires servicing in preparation for the long trip. The team will not want to suffer delays to the busy schedule due to breakdowns or other problems with the cars. Transportation is partially covered by these 4 X 4 vehicles which will soon be filled with gifts and volunteers, but some larger donation items are sent on ahead by lorry to ensure they reach the right destination on the correct date.

At the same time as the Nawras Goodwill Journey team members spread happiness and compassion around the country during Ramadan, Nawras is also taking the time to remind customers that they can easily support the Oman Charitable Organisation without travelling anywhere. Donations can be made by simply sending an SMS with the word ‘DONATE’ to the number 90095. For each SMS sent, Bz 209 will be given to the OCO to provide assistance for those most in need. Nawras will obviously not be making any charges for these SMS.
