Nawras Oman Hobie 16 National Championship 2007 exciting results

Nawras, the Middle East Mobile Operator of the Year, was proud to sponsor the extremely exciting, fiercely contested national sailing event held at the weekend, which saw the competition results so close throughout, that they were undecided until the very last race. There was tension, skill and exhilaration as the sailors battled it out to decide the winners of the Nawras Oman Hobie 16 National Championship 2007 before the favourites and last year’s winners, Frank Van Beek (helm) and Sabine Varenhkamp (crew), once again lifted the impressive trophy for first place.

Presenting the award, Nawras CEO Ross Cormack, said, “Nawras is a winner for customers, so it is a pleasure for us to be here today to warmly congratulate the winners of the Nawras Oman Hobie 16 National Championship 2007, Frank and Sabine, on their fantastic performances. Competition has been extremely fierce but as we know well at Nawras, excellent quality is a key ingredient for success! It has been a great pleasure for Nawras to support this thrilling event and to have had the opportunity to share our exciting OPAL offer with the crowds assembled here.

David Clark, organiser, participant and Chairman of Hobie Nationals Organisation, who was pipped at the post to finish in second place with his new crew Toni Howard, was delighted with the event overall. “It was a fantastic weekend,” he said, “Such close racing and every wind combination from light winds to 17 knot blasters – a real test of the sailors’ overall ability and stamina. The final result was all about the finishing places of the top four teams in the very last race of the Championship. It was exhilarating and tension filled, as we approaching the starting line for the last time, knowing that this performance would decide our ranking for the Championship. It was wonderful sailing at its very best in the Sultanate of Oman.”

Throughout the exciting weekend, Nawras personnel were on shore, busy explaining details of the great OPAL offer to PDO Recreation Club members. Many thought there must be some catch because the offer is so attractive but they were pleasantly surprised when they discovered that the great value for them and their families is simply that. There are no hidden details involved in this partnership, simply a host of benefits for customers from a fixed discount on mobile usage to free welcome packs and waived port-in fees for those changing operator.

As a unique element of the OPAL offer, it’s not only the employees that stand to benefit but this great deal extends to families too! Each employee can nominate four immediate family members to receive the fantastic OPAL offer, enjoying all the great advantages and savings this brings.

The Middle East Mobile Operator of the Year will continue its support for sailing in Oman, by sponsoring the Nawras Oman Youth Hobie 16 National Championship 2007 in December, which promises to be another thrilling, action-packed occasion. Setting the pace for this event last weekend were Katie Whyte and Lucy Ambrose, both 15 years old, who together achieved a very creditable 16th place and the top Youth team for the Open event despite demanding heavy weather conditions on the final day. This will certainly be a team to watch out for in December.
