Nawras, the Omani Qatari Mobile Telecommunications Company, the Sultanate’s customer-friendly communications provider, is proud to add another indispensable service in the form of SMS updates from the Muscat Securities Market. A vital tool to monitor individual stocks or simply keep an eye on the market’s movements.

The service is available in one of two ways. Customers can choose to receive either a subscription based push SMS alert or pull SMS information based. To suit individual customer requirements, there is also the choice of subscribing to a specific stock for a one month period or to receive single stock prices on an ad hoc basis. To benefit from the service, customers follow simple instructions and their subscription will be valid for one month, at which time they will receive a reminder for renewal.

To participate, customers simply send the stock code to a designated short code and they will then receive two SMS messages each day, prior to the Muscat Stock Market opening and after the market closes. For example, when a customer chooses to subscribe and receive the information in English, they simply transmit the four letter company code to 90503 and should they choose to see the details in Arabic, they send A followed by the company code, to the same number. Each subscription covers a single stock although customers are free to take up multiple subscriptions to covert their portfolios. To receive single stock prices at any time, the same codes apply and are sent to 90505. If this is done after trading hours the customers will receive the opening price, high, low and closing price at the time. Alternatively, if it takes place during trading, they will get the stock price at the time of sending the SMS pull request.

He went on to add, “By subscribing to the Nawras stock alerts customers will be up-to-date with the opening and closing prices of their favourite stocks. They will also be able to get stock prices whenever they wish, with the SMS pull service.”
