Nawras Customers can roam the globe

Nawras, the Sultanate’s customer friendly communications provider, has implemented agreements with more than 200 international roaming partners, expanding its network to cover more than 95% of Omani business and leisure travel destinations. A remarkable achievement in less than two years! Nawras is now proud to offer 202 roaming partners in 107 countries across the globe. The number of roaming partners is continuously growing, and before the end of 2006 another handful of operators will be added as partners, providing further advantages for Nawras customers.

Commenting on the success, Sibel Gazozcu, Nawras International Roaming Manager, said, “We have great team work at Nawras and with hard work and cooperation we have increased our number of international roaming partners significantly in 2006. We are very proud to have implemented the same number of roaming partners in less than two years, that our competitor took almost ten years to reach. Furthermore, in addition to providing our customers with great coverage, we are happy to be the only operator in Oman to offer its customers the innovative Data Roaming service (GPRS) as well as Full Prepaid Roaming (CAMEL) service to our prepaid customers. The fact that we have already implemented 21 Data Roaming partners and 10 Full Prepaid roaming partners shows that we are also excelling, compared to our competition for these roaming services. Nawras looks forward to delivering additional international roaming opportunities for our customers during the remainder of 2006 and aggressively building on that base in 2007.”

Not only has Nawras achieved the target for international roaming partners, it has also been the clear leader in bringing new and innovative roaming services to mobile customers in Oman. Nawras was first to introduce Data Roaming, in which Nawras Ajel postpaid customers can send and receive e-mails, download files or simply browse the Internet from their mobile phone or PDA even while roaming abroad. In addition, they can also send and receive Picture Messages or access the Nawras mobile portal, Nawras Zone, to read news or download other type of content. Initially, Data Roaming service was only available in the UAE, but now Nawras covers all GCC countries, as well as a number of other countries in the Middle East and Europe. Whilst the Data Roaming service will be beneficial for all customers, it will be particularly welcomed by those in the business sector.

For prepaid customers, Nawras introduced a number of innovative roaming services during 2005 and 2006. Nawras was the first operator to introduce Callback Roaming, in which Nawras Mousbak customers could make calls in all Nawras’s international roaming partner networks. Furthermore, prepaid customers can also receive SMS and voice calls, as well as send SMS while roaming in networks of Nawras’s more than 200 international roaming partners.

Nawras has already entered the next level of prepaid roaming by launching Full Prepaid Roaming for Nawras Mousbak customers – another first in the Omani mobile market. The Full Prepaid Roaming service enhances the customer experience and makes international roaming just as convenient as with a Nawras Ajel (postpaid) product. Through extensive market research Nawras learned that Prepaid Roaming in the UAE and Saudi Arabia was among the highest priorities for the Omani population. These two countries were given precedence and implemented, and now Nawras covers the majority of the GCC countries for its Nawras Mousbak customers, while a number of other countries will be covered during 2007.

Nawras customers are also offered a wide range of Value Added Services making international roaming more convenient. Through the free service ‘Missed Call Notice’, a Nawras customer will be notified through SMS of any calls they failed to answer due to their unavailability even when roaming abroad. Alternatively, if the ‘Voice Mail’ service is activated, Nawras customers can even allow callers to leave a voice message, in the event of being unable to answer the incoming call. Finally, Nawras prepaid customers running out of credit while roaming abroad, can ask family or friends back in Oman to transfer credit to their account, through the electronic ‘Credit Transfer’ service for Nawras Mousbak, thereby ensuring an uninterrupted roaming experience.
