Ali Al-Habsi visits Nawras winning team at main office

National and International football star Ali Al-Habsi, recently visited the main office of Nawras to meet the winning team responsible for introducing choice to telecommunication customers in Oman. As the Ambassador for Nawras’s MNP (Mobile Number Portability) campaign, Mr. Ali Al-Habsi was happy to meet with management and employees and spent time visiting the various departments of the company, signing memorabilia for staff and taking photographs.

During the visit, Ross Cormack, CEO of Nawras, warmly welcomed Ali Al-Habsi and thanked him for lending his valuable support to publicise the exciting new opportunities now available to everyone in the Sultanate. A short presentation was shown in which Mr. Cormack outlined the key points of MNP, pointing out that Oman is the first country in the GCC to introduce MNP. He highlighted the many advantages being enjoyed by over 450,000 Nawras customers.

“I am delighted that after months of hard work from the Nawras winning team we were able to introduce the freedom of choice to mobile customers”, said Mr. Cormack. Mobile Number Portability clearly provides a lot of benefit to customers, as they will not have to incur the inconvenience or cost of informing their family, friends and colleagues about a new number. For business customers there are great savings too, since there is no need to reprint business cards, stationery, print advertising, web page, signage, and invoices. We are very grateful that Ali Al-Habsi agreed to be our MNP Ambassador as he guards his number ‘26’ as fiercely as customers guard their mobile numbers. Ali is an international champion and we at Nawras champion customers to always offer them a pleasingly different experience”, he added.

Nawras offers pleasingly different voice and data services through its next generation mobile broadband network with a superior voice quality (low congestion and minimal number of dropped calls) and a fast and reliable mobile data access using EDGE technology, which is another Nawras “first” in Oman. Nawras was recently benchmarked to be amongst the top 10% in most of the Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) out of 110 Ericsson mobile operated networks worldwide. Nawras was number one in three parameters including the least dropped calls. Nawras also provides the widest network coverage in the Sultanate, through its own broadband network as well as its coverage extension by using Oman Mobile’s network as back-up.

In addition, Nawras offers customers wireless high-speed internet access with Nawras Internet, which not only offers attractive rates but can also be purchased and set up in a matter of minutes. Nawras is the only mobile operator in Oman offering its customers an international data roaming service in 13 countries including all the GCC destinations, keeping its customers in touch with their emails and business appointments whilst on the move abroad. Nawras is also the only operator with a 3G licence, allowing services like Video Telephony, TV/Video Streaming and ultra–high speed data access in the near future. On top of this, Nawras offers the best value in the market through its competitive and transparent price plans as well as a wide range of services included free of charge. Nawras Ajel customers enjoy call rates as low as 19 Bz per minute, without having to make big monthly commitments to benefit from low tariffs, and Nawras Mousbak customers benefit from calls as low as 39 Bz per minute. Moreover, Nawras Ajel and Nawras Mousbak customers benefit from the lowest international call rates in the Sultanate, even lower than calling from a fixed phone.
