Nawras customers donate to Oman Charitable Organisation for Lebanon

Nawras, the Sultanate's customer-friendly communications provider, has since its commercial launch taken corporate social responsibility seriously and been a leader in contributing and participating in community related activities. A recent example of this was the humanitarian SMS campaign, under the theme "Help the people of Lebanon”, donate 209 bz per SMS by sending a text message with the word DONATE to 90095. In order to make to the donation to the people of Lebanon possible Nawras joined hands with its strategic partner the Oman Charitable Organisation. Nawras customers voted with their hearts by sending numerous SMS to donate to the people of Lebanon. The total amount of 209bz, comprising of 199bz plus 10bz SMS fee charge, will be passed on to the people of Lebanon through the Oman Charitable Organisation (OCO).

At a ceremony organised at Nawras main office in Al Athaiba, Saleh Al Ryiami, Nawras Board Member, and Khalid Al Mahmoud Nawars Chief Operating Officer, handover the donation to H.E. Sayyid Mohammed bin Sultan Al-Busaidi, under-secretary at the Ministry of Interior and Vice Chairman of the OCO executive board, in the presence of Mr. Ali Ibrahim Al Raisi Executive Chairman of the OCO and other Nawras senior management. Nawras collected all the proceedings from the SMS donation for helping the people of Lebanon during the month of August and submitted the total amount to OCO at the ceremony.

Commenting on the occasion Ali Ibrahim, OCO Executive Chairman, remarked, “We are welcoming any private sector humanitarian initiatives to help the people in need either within the Sultanate and abroad. Nawras is well known for its many initiatives toward helping the society. Among those memorable initiative was the Nawras Ramadan Goodwill Journey last, which many people, especially those who benefited from kindness, still remember what Nawras did during that journey. We are coming today here to thank Nawras and I appeal to other companies to follow in the steps of Nawras”.

We thank our valued customers for reaching into their pockets and donating to this noble humanitarian cause,” said, Khalid Al Mahmoud, Nawras Chief Operating Officer, he continued, “We believe that companies should take a major role in serving the community and at Nawras we tried to covert this believes into actions. The donation campaign to Lebanon was one of those activities highlights Nawras social commitments, not only within the Omani boundaries but also abroad. As we promised our customer, we are forwarding their donations to the OCO to be distributed to the people of Lebanon”.

Nawras has reserved the word DONATE to short code 90095 for customers wanting to make donations. Customers can still keep donating and the money collected is regularly gathered and donation transferred to OCO.
